The exact story of Greta Gerwig’s Barbie film has been a bit of a mystery – now a first teaser trailer has been released, and we’re still confused.
Director Greta Gerwig’s Barbie film is one of the most anticipated movies of 2023, and now we finally have a teaser trailer.
For those wondering exactly what a film about Barbie could entail, you’ll most likely emerge from watching the trailer none the wiser. The slightly obscure teaser begins with narration explaining that dolls have always existed, but were always baby dolls until… Barbie. Cue Margot Robbie’s entrance as the titular heroine, performed with a tongue-in-cheek wink.
After that, there’s a lot of pink, some very stylish outfits, a very blonde Ryan Gosling as Ken, and dancing galore. Starring in the film alongside Robbie and Gosling are America Ferrera, Simu Liu, Kate McKinnon and Emma Mackey – as well as many more famous faces. The teaser may not give away much in terms of story, but it absolutely sets us up to expect some good, self-aware fun.
