The ‘right people’ are talking about Freaky Friday 2 reveals Jamie Lee Curtis, as she looks to reteam with Lindsay Lohan.

Things seem to be moving in the right direction for a sequel to 2003’s beloved body swap comedy, Freaky Friday. There is a huge amount of affection that exists for the original (itself a remake of a loved film) which starred Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsey Lohan and made more than $160m from a budget of just $26m.

All the pieces for a sequel to happen seem to be moving into place: Disney now has a streaming platform upon which to release the film, meaning it can extract further value from the project, Curtis is on board and Lindsay Lohan has recently made a successful return to leading roles in Netflix’s Falling For Christmas.

Curtis recently told Variety that “there is no scheduled date, but we’re talking. People are talking. The right people are talking. I’m 64 in a week, and Lindsay is 36…[A sequel] lends itself so beautifully. We’re both committed to it, and it’s not ours to make. It’s Disney’s to make, and I think they’re interested, and we’re talking.”

Whilst nothing is set in stone yet, it’s looking increasingly likely that this one will happen.

The original continues to be adored by fans, influencing teen films to this day. There was a TV version created by Disney a few years back and 2020’s Freaky was a horror-themed riff on the 2003 classic, proving just how enduring Freaky Friday's popularity continues to be. And We’ll let you know if and when an official announcement lands.
