The ā€˜right peopleā€™ are talking about Freaky Friday 2 reveals Jamie Lee Curtis, as she looks to reteam with Lindsay Lohan. Things seem to be moving in the right direction for a sequel to 2003ā€™s beloved body swap comedy, Freaky Friday. There is a huge amount of affection that exists for the original (itself a remake of a loved film) which starred Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsey Lohan and made more than $160m from a budget of just $26m. All the pieces for a sequel to happen seem to be moving into place: Disney now has a streaming platform upon which to release the film, meaning it can extract further value from the project, Curtis is on board and Lindsay Lohan has recently made a successful return to leading roles in Netflixā€™s Falling For Christmas. Curtis recently told Variety that ā€œthere is no scheduled date, but we’re talking. People are talking. The right people are talking. I’m 64 in a week, and Lindsay is 36…[A sequel] lends itself so beautifully. We’re both committed to it, and it’s not ours to make. It’s Disney’s to make, and I think they’re interested, and we’re talking.” Whilst nothing is set in stone yet, itā€™s looking increasingly likely that this one will happen. The original continues to be adored by fans, influencing teen films to this day. There was a TV version created by Disney a few years back and 2020ā€™s Freaky was a horror-themed riff on the 2003 classic, proving just how enduring Freaky Friday's popularity continues to be. And Weā€™ll let you know if and when an official announcement lands. ā€” Thank you for visiting! If youā€™d like to support our attempts to make a non-clickbaity movie website: Follow Film Stories on Twitter here, and on Facebook here.
