Gerry Andersonās Space Precinct is coming to Blu-ray for the first time, thanks to a brand new box set. More here.
As much as the late Gerry Anderson had his fair share of big successes in his lifetime – hello, Thunderbirds, for instance – one or two of his productions took a little time to find their audience. Take Space Precinct as an example. The science fiction drama was a costly affair, and 24 episodes were produced. But it was maligned at the time of its debut, and as was never really given a decent slot in the schedules on American television.
Bottom line: the show lasted for one season, as given its ratings and the cost to produce, the money stopped coming from America.
Over time, it’s built up more of a following at least, although the original DVD release of the show was long out of print. But as you’ve probably gleamed from the existence of this article, there’s better news on the horizon. For the first time, Space Precinct has been remastered in high definition, and the show is not only coming back to disc, but it’s getting its first Blu-ray release too.
Issued by Anderson Entertainment, the eight disc set features every episode in high definition, as well as a host of extras – led by a new two hour documentary – and an accompanying booklet as well. The get a poster in the set as well, as well as replica props of money from the show.
The set has been inked in for release on 31st March 2025 in the UK, and has gone up for preorder. Thus far, it’s only a Blu-ray edition that’s available to order, and you can find it here.
For now, we’ll leave you with the synopsis for the show, which reads as follows…
