Halle Berry, who starred with Keanu Reeves in John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, says her character could get a spin-off.

In an interview with IGNMoonfall star Halle Berry said that although she will not be in the upcoming John Wick: Chapter 4, her character may be getting her own spin-off film. In the third instalment of the Keanu Reeves-led series, Berry plays Sofia – a friend of John Wick and manager of one of the branches of The Continental Hotel.

“Sofia’s not in the next John Wick movie”, Berry said. “There could possibly be a Sofia… her own movie. So she might not be in John Wick, but she might be doing her own thingy-thingy”. Nothing official has been announced, but considering TV spin-off The Continental is in the works, the franchise is obviously open to expanding.

Berry was once set to star in a spin-off film as Bond girl Jinx. She starred with Pierce Brosnan in Die Another Day. While producer Barbara Broccoli wanted to give the character her own film, the studio refused the requested $80 million budget and the project never came to fruition. Speaking to Variety in 2020, Berry expressed her disappointment that the movie never came to be, and said she thought the studio wasn’t ready for a black female lead in an action film.

The actor’s next role is in Roland Emmerich’s sci-fi-disaster film Moonfall, where the moon is knocked out of orbit and is on a collision course with Earth. She is also due to star in Netflix sci-fi The Mothership, which does not yet have a release date.

John Wick: Chapter 4 was originally due for release in May this year, but in January it was delayed until March 2023. After the shocking ending of the third film, the next instalment will presumably see the wounded John Wick team up with Laurence Fishburne’s The Bowery King to take down his enemies.

John Wick: Chapter 4 is due to be released on 24th March 2023.
