Is that a cinematic universe we smell? Interconnectivity could be the buzz word as Miramax now owns all the Halloween rights.
While it was surely as predictable as the sun rising tomorrow, The Shape, aka Michael Myers, will return despite his turn in last yearās movie being called Halloween Ends. The film rights to the whole saga moving forwards were already secured by Miramax but interestingly, the company have now secured the television rights as well, leading to speculation that a Halloween shared universe may be on the cards next.
The mere mention of a cinematic universe is enough to induce a groan these days, but the fact that weāve just had three Halloween films in the space of five years means that a different approach could be the way forwards, especially given that last yearās Halloween Ends didnāt exactly leave audiences craving more blood-soaked adventures in the fictional town of Haddonfield, Illinois.

However, maybe a TV show could provide an opportunity to do something fresh and daring with the series, perhaps setting up the inevitable return of Michael Myers in an interesting and different way? Heās clearly not dead now, and heās clearly not, er, ended, so maybe we could see a return to the anthology style-storytelling that was adopted (and abandoned) with Halloween III: Season Of The Witch back in 1982.
Either way, itās probably going to be a while before we hear anything and thatās surely a good thing ā even though itās about time to start carving our pumpkins for the spooky season, the Halloween series might benefit from a bit of a rest.
Weāll bring you more news on this one as we hear it. Halloween Restarts is surely just a matter of time, though, isnāt it?
