Josh O’Connor is set to star in Joel Coen’s next film, Jack Of Spades, filming this summer. More on the project below.
Josh O’Connor is kind of the man of the moment. The British actor had not one but two films at the Cannes Film Festival this year and he’s currently filming the super secret Steven Spielberg movie.
And it doesn’t look like he’s slowing down either.
Deadline has the scoop that O’Connor will star in Joel Coen’s next solo directorial effort Jack Of Spades. The movie is set to shoot later this summer in Scotland, but plot details are still being kept secret. Deadline also knows that offers to star in the film have been extended to two British actresses but they couldn’t be named. Intriguing.
We first heard that Joel Coen was looking to make another film without his brother Ethan – who is busy releasing Honey Don’t! this year – in January.
For 2025 alone, O’Connor has four different films on the release schedule. The Mastermind and The History Of Sound have both just premiered at Cannes to positive reviews and Rebuilding gathered raves at Sundance earlier this year. Then there’s Rian Johnson’s highly anticipated new Benoit Blanc mystery, Wake Up Dead Man.
Since his breakthrough role in God’s Own Country – a bloody good film, that – O’Connor’s career has really taken off and the actor has worked steadily across film and TV with some of Hollywood’s biggest directors. Last year’s Challengers saw O’Connor star with Mike Faist and Zendaya in Luca Guadagnino’s erotic tennis drama and the actor appeared with Kate Winslet in Lee.
We’ll bring you more on Jack Of Spades as soon as we have something to report.
