Tessa Thompson will star and executive produce Netflix’s His & Hers, and Jon Bernthal and Pablo Schreiber will star alongside the Thor actor.
Another day, another Netflix TV series is in the works. Tessa Thompson will star and executive produce His & Hers, a new limited series based on Alice Feeley’s novel of the same name. Variety reports that The Bear’s Jon Bernthal and Halo’s Pablo Schreiber are set to join Thompson in the six episode series.
Here’s the series’ synopsis: Set in the sweltering heat of Atlanta, Anna (Thompson) lives in haunting reclusivity, fading away from her friends and career as a news anchor. But when she overhears about a murder in Dahlonega – the sleepy town where she grew up – Anna is snapped back to life, pouncing on the case and searching for answers. Detective Jack Harper (Bernthal) is strangely suspicious of her involvement, chasing her into the crosshairs of his own investigation. There are two sides to every story: his & hers, which means someone is always lying.
Bernthal’s character Jack is described as “a Sheriff’s Office detective who lost his last job and is now working in his small hometown of Dahlonega, Georgia, where he lives with his sister and niece. He is married to newscaster Anna, but the two are estranged, their relationship complicated by loss and betrayal. Jack is a good man who doesn’t always make good decisions and is deeply troubled by the murder case he’s just picked up.”
Schreiber will play a character called Richard, “one of the best cameramen at WSK TV News, and he’s also the husband of hot new anchor Lexy Jones, who slid into her position during the recent absence of regular anchor Anna Andrews. Richard is chosen by Anna to be her cameraman when, upon her return, she picks up the story of a murder in Dahlonega as a field reporter,” according to Variety.
Bernthal recently won an Emmy for guest starring in The Bear as Jeremy Allen White’s Carmy’s big brother, who leaves his restaurant to Carmy after dying by suicide. Schreiber became a familiar face after starring in Netflix’s Orange Is The New Black as one of the guards and was last seen in the Halo TV series, which has unfortunately been cancelled. Schreiber also starred against Jena Malone in the underappreciated Lorelei from director Sabrina Doyle in 2020.
William Oldroyd, Dee Johnson, and Bill Dubuque are on writing duties for His & Hers with Johnson serving as showrunner and Oldroyd as the director of the first episode. His & Hers is expected to go into production this year, but we’ll keep you updated on a release date.
