Star of 2022ās The Royal Hotel, Julia Garner will now play opposite Christopher Abbott in Leigh Whannellās planned take on Wolf Man.
It feels like weāve been waiting forever for this one to come together, but the pieces finally seem to be falling into place for a new version of Wolf Man at Universal. Whatās more, with each new nugget of information, things look more and more promising for the project.
All the way back in 2021, we heard that a new take on Universalās werewolf character was coming, with Leigh Whannell, director of The Invisible Man in the directorās chair. However, a year later, Ryan Gosling was in the title role and Whannell was out, replaced by regular Gosling collaborator, Derek Cianfrance.
Following that announcement, things went quiet for a long time until last month, we heard that Gosling and Cianfrance had exited the project which had been restored back to Leigh Whannell.
Christopher Abbott is now set to play the title character and now weāre hearing ā via The Hollywood Reporter ā that the talented Julia Garner is stepping in to co-star alongside him.
Garner is probably best known for her work on Ozark, the thrilling TV drama. However, sheās also been building quite the reputation in a series of disquieting independent dramas such as 2019ās The Assistant and last yearās The Royal Hotel.
Garner now looks set to embark on the next stage of her career as a star of interesting horror projects: sheāll next be seen in Apartment 7A, the prequel to horror classic, Rosemaryās Baby, before appearing in Whannellās take on the classic Wolf Man character.
Weāre very much liking what Whannell seems to be assembling with this project. His 2020 take on The Invisible Man was a compelling watch, and with a young and talented cast in place for this project, weāre very much looking forward to seeing his take on Wolf Man. Weāll bring you more on this one as we hear it.
