A fourth Jumanji film is in the very early stages, reveals director Jake Kasdan, although present events have inevitably slowed things down. After the sizeable global success of both Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle and Jumanji: The Next Level, it seems something of an inevitably that a further film would be explored. Not least because – and no spoilers here – there’s a slight hint as to where the adventure could go next in The Next Level. The last two films have been headlined by Dwayne Johnson, Karen Gillan, Kevin Hart and Jack Black, and directed by Jake Kasdan. And Kasdan – promoting the home entertainment release of The Next Level – has been chatting about Jumanji 4. He revealed to Collider that “we’re just starting to talk about all of that, and the truth is we’ve barely started. We were just getting into the conversation before this global calamity and we will re-engage it as soon as everybody’s settled”. He confirmed that the plan is for a further sequel, with the caveat that “it would have to be exciting on its own two feet in a way that’s comparable to what the first two were for me”. He confirmed that he believes a third film will press ahead, but added “it’s just the earliest days of trying to figure out what that would be”. The full interview can be found here. And here’s our own conversation with Jake Kasdan, from around the time of Jumanji: The Next Level's release.
