IllFonic will take over publishing duties from Good Shepherd for the upcoming Killer Klowns from Outer Space: The Game.
Killer Klowns from Outer Space: The Game, based on the cult 1980s horror movie, was announced at Gamescom last year as an asymmetrical multiplayer title being published by Good Shepherd. Now, as Gamescom rolls around again, it seems that publishing duties have been taken over by IllFonic.
In a press release, IllFonic said that it will co-develop the title alongside Teravision Games. Itās not clear why Good Shepherd ā the publisher behind games such as John Wick Hex and Monster Train ā has decided to divest itself of the project, and at the time of writing, Killer Klowns from Outer Space: The Game was still listed on Good Shephardās website as ācoming soonā.
According to the press release, the handover of publishing duties was an āamicable dealā. Charles Brungardt, CEO and Co-Founder of IllFonic, said: “When we first started talking to Good Shepherd Entertainment and Teravision Games about this possibility we were very excited about the IP. Then we got to know the team at Teravision and knew we were going to make this happen. Everyone at Good Shepherd has made the handoff process of this project enjoyable, as there is a lot of behind the scenes business in order to make something like this possible.”
IllFonic is the publisher of Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed and Predator: Hunting Grounds, and Killer Klowns from Outer Space: The Game is the latest in a series of asymmetrical multiplayer games based on horror movies. Gun Interactive released Friday the 13th: The Game in 2018, which saw some notable success until a rights dispute forced the closure of its servers in 2020. Gun Interactive is currently working on another asymmetrical horror title based on The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.
Killer Klowns from Outer Space: The Game is set for release on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One, but itās unclear when exactly the title will launch: the gameās website still lists it as being available in āearly 2023ā. However, it will be playable at Gamescom later this week.
