Two people have brought the charming-looking Loneliness & Laundry to life ā€“ hereā€™s more information, and a trailer too.

The amount of work that goes into a hand-crafted animated short film is very much on the boggling side, so very happy to give a salute to the work of tiny UK animation studio Chicken Fruit here. Chicken Fruit is two people – Jonny and Lindsey – and you can find out some of the workings behind their new project, Loneliness & Laundry, right here.

The pair have now completed the film, after a couple of years getting it to this stage, and are in the process of submitting it to film festivals around the world. But they’ve also put together a short trailer. When watching this, do remember: it’s two people in a flat, with a nice computer, and some particularly impressive brains.

Hereā€™s the trailer for the film…

There’s a short synopsis that Chicken Fruit has issued too, and that reads as follows…

Tabitha is lonely. Too guilty and embarrassed to accept help from loved ones, she lives in her own (slightly stinky) pit of solitude. But even the stinkiest of pits needs tackling eventually, and Tabitha’s attempt to clean up her space leads her to falling into a magical world of softness, warmth and sentient jumpers.

If you want to see what the pair have done before, then feast your eyes on their award-winning 2018 animated short film Meteorlight, which ended up screening on BBC Four. You can watch it for free over at the BFI website, here.

We’re looking forward to seeing the completed Loneliness & Laundry and wish the Chicken Fruit team the very best with it. Keep an eye on their website for details of screenings, although we’d imagine for the minute that’s dependent on film festivals and which ones pick the production up.
