Middle-Earth will be returning to cinemas, but this time in animated form: thereās a new Lord Of The Rings film on the way.
Warner Bros animation and New Line Cinema are fast-tracking a new Lord Of The Rings feature for theatrical release. The War Of The Rohirrim is set to be an animated prequel film that features Helmās Deep, an iconic location from the original trilogy, whilst focusing on Helm Hammerhand, a legendary leader of the Rohirrim.
Although itās believed that Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh, the architects of the original films, are said not to be involved, the project still has some impressive talent attached to it. Lord Of The Rings: Return Of The King writer Philippa Boyens will be a consultant on the new project which will be directed by Kenji Kamiyama, an animator on the classic Manga, Akira.
Whilst voice casting is underway, Sola Entertainment is handling animation duties. Sola animates the popular Rick & Morty series. The prospect of seeing Middle-Earth on the big screen once more is certainly exciting, and coupled with Amazonās upcoming series, should mean that Lord Of The Rings fans are sated for some time to come. Weāll let you know as we hear more.
