Love Death + Robots is set to return to Netflix for season 4, featuring more strange tales and a Red Hot Chili Peppers song performed by puppets. Here’s a trailer:
If you’ve ever been a fan of the brilliant British comic book, 2000 AD, and used to love the unending inventiveness of Tharg’s Future Shocks, you’re almost certainly already a fan of the Netflix anthology show, Love, Death + Robots. If you’ve never had the pleasure, then just know that the series, overseen by such talent as David Fincher and Tim Miller, offers a continually evolving series of weird and dark tales, all served up in beautifully realised animation.
Season 4 is due to appear in May, and as such, Netflix has released a trailer with some eye-popping bits to whip us up into a frenzy of anticipation. Kevin Hart, John Boyega, Brett Goldstein, Rahul Kohli, Ed Skrein, John Oliver, Chris Parnell, Rhys Darby, Niecy Nash-Betts, Dan Stevens and MrBeast will all be lending their voice talents to the upcoming season.
Oh, and David Fincher – the famed music video director before he went on to do pretty well in Hollywood – has returned to his first love with an episode titled Can’t Stop, that ‘recreates a famed Red Hot Chili Peppers performance’… with string puppets.
If that isn’t keying you up, then we don’t know what to tell you. Apart from the fact that the upcoming season also features a cute ‘mini alien apocalypse story’, one where household appliances chat with each other, and an episode where ‘an imprisoned 18th century poet thinks Satan wants him to write a verse to end the world.’
Interestingly, Deadpool director Tim Miller has also directed a live action episode this time round, and there’s one story about an adorable yet fiendish cat hellbent on world domination… if an equally lovable robot would just stop getting in its way.
If you’re still not on board with any of that, then all that remains is check out the trailer below and let it change your mind. Love, Death + Robots season 4 will arrive on Netflix on May 15th.
