Luther: The Fallen Sun will debut in cinemas next month before hitting Netflix, and we also have a teaser trailer.
Idris Elba’s hulking super sleuth Luther is hitting the bug screen next month. Previously, everything seemed to indicate the film was going straight to Netflix, but we now have confirmation that Luther: The Fallen Sun will premiere in cinemas next month before hitting the streaming service
A gruesome serial killer is terrorizing London while brilliant but disgraced detective John Luther sits behind bars. Haunted by his failure to capture the cyber psychopath who now taunts him, Luther decides to break out of prison to finish the job by any means necessary.
Idris Elba, of course, returns as the troubled titular detective, with Dermot Crowley also reprising his role as DCI Martin Schenk.
New additions to the cast include Cynthia Erivo, Andy Serkis and martial artist Jess Liaudin. It is currently unknown whether Ruth Wilson will reprise her role as fan favourite character Alice Morgan.
Series creator Neil Cross has penned the script for the film, with director Jamie Payne, who helmed series 5 of the drama, behind the camera.
Luther: The Fallen Sun will be released in cinemas on the 24th February before landing on Netflix on the 10th March 2023.
