Mia Goth reprises her role as Maxine Minx in the concluding film in Ti West’s horror trilogy. Take a look at the first MaXXXine trailer.

With The First Omen, Immaculate and Late Night With The Devil now in cinemas, horror fans are feasting again. And 2024 is only just getting started with the violent delights it has to offer.

Ti West returns to helm the final part in his ambitious trilogy of horror films. Both X and Pearl were big hits with audiences and critics and now, MaXXXine is set to bring the trilogy to an explosive conclusion.

Take a look at the MaXXXine trailer.

Now that’s how you do a trailer!

Here’s the official synopsis: In 1980s Hollywood, adult film star and aspiring actress Maxine Minx finally gets her big break. But as a mysterious killer stalks the starlets of Hollywood, a trail of blood threatens to reveal her sinister past.

That sinister past is of course the events depicted in 2022’s X, in which we met Mia Goth’s Maxine Minx for the first time. In that film, she was part of a film crew who rented out a property on a farm to film a porno, but soon found themselves at the mercy of a mysterious killer.

Pearl, a prequel to X, was released the following year with Goth playing the title role. That film was set in 1918, while MaXXXine is taking us to the neon-drenched 1980s with its slick look and a killer soundtrack.

Now, the trailer mentions the mysterious killer being The Night Stalker, who was also a very real serial killer who targeted young women. Richard Ramirez was captured in 1985, the year MaXXXine is set. Could we see Maxine take on the infamous killer? We bloody hope so!

Elizabeth Debicki, Moses Sumney, Michelle Monaghan, Bobby Cannavale, Halsey, Lily Collins, with Giancarlo Esposito, and Kevin Bacon will join Goth in the cast. Judging from the trailer and that cast list, A24, the studio behind MaXXXine, has spent a whole heap more money on this instalment after the success of the previous two films.

MaXXXine is set to debut in US cinemas on 5th July, while UK folks will have to wait until 9th August to catch it.
