Paramount delays the release date of the next Mission: Impossible films for a fifth time – we’re now going to be waiting until 2023 for the next one.

Paramount Pictures has jiggled its release slate again, and even though it has Tom Cruise’s next three films on it, they don’t seem to be getting any closer.

In fairness, Top Gun: Maverick – long completed – is currently set for release in May, nearly two years after it was originally due for release. But the ongoing disruption caused to the filming of the next two Mission: Impossible films – shooting back to back remember – has caused another sizeable delay to those.

This, by our count, is the fifth time the films have changed release date. Originally scheduled for release in the summer of 2021, Mission: Impossible 7 has now been put back the best part of another year to July 7th 2023. In turn, that knocks on Mission: Impossible 8 to June 28th 2024, nearly two years later than originally planned.

Hopefully this is the last set of delays for the films. Heck, they’ve had that many delays, we’ll have seen an Avatar sequel by the time we get another Mission: Impossible film in cinemas…
