Shea Whigham is joining the cast of the next two Mission: Impossible films.
Busy time for writer/director Christopher McQuarrie. Fresh off the back of his screenplay work on Top Gun: Maverick, he’s now making a pair of Mission: Impossible movies back to back. After helming the last two films in the series, he’s writing and directing Mission: Impossible 7 and Mission: Impossible 8.
Tom Cruise is reprising the role of Ethan Hunt, with filming set to begin next year. And now McQuarrie has revealed a fresh piece of casting for the films.
Shea Whigham – most recently seen in Joker – is set to join the new films, in a thus-far undisclosed role.
He’s joining a support cast that also includes Rebecca Ferguson, Pom Klementieff and Hayley Atwell. We’re expecting Simon Pegg back too.
Mission: Impossible 7 is set for release in July 2021. And here’s McQuarrie’s Tweet, that announces the new casting…
