Fresh casting news has landed for The Matrix 4, with Jada Pinkett-Smith the latest to return.
Some more interesting tidbits regarding the planned return to The Matrix universe have been revealed (via Deadline) with the news that Jada Pinkett-Smith who portrayed Niobe in the original trilogy, is in talks to reprise that role in the upcoming sequel.
Pinkett-Smith has just signed a deal with talent representation agency, WME, who are reportedly brokering the deal that will see the character return to The Matrix series alongside Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss. Aquaman’s Yahya Abdul-Mateen II has already been announced. The news follows yesterday’s announcement that Neil Patrick Harris is also set to feature.
The film itself is slated for a 2022 release and will be directed by Lana Wachowski, one half of the original series’ directorial duo. Filming in Chicago, a first for the franchise. More news as we have it.
