Marvelās own version of The Suicide Squad, Thunderbolts*, has a shiny new trailer to herald its arrival in May.
āThe Avengers are not coming,ā Julia Louis-Dreyfus says in the new trailer for Marvelās Thunderbolts*.
Instead, weāre getting Marvelās slant on The Dirty Dozen (or, more likely, The Suicide Squad). The trailer even offers a hint of why that strange asterisk is in the title.
Jake Schreier is in the director’s chair, while the script is by Eric Pearson, Lee Sung Jin, and Joanna Calo. The cast does look fun, with Sebastian Stan as the Bucky Barnes, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Wyatt Russell as US Agent John Walker, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost and Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster (Greg Davies presumably wasnāt available).
Beyond the cast, weāre excited to see Jake Schreier making such a high-profile movie. He directed 2012ās Robot And Frank and was heavily involved in the production of Netflixās Beef, two pieces of filmed entertainment we have a lot of time for. If Marvel Studios has allowed Schreier a decent amount of creative latitude here (which is a big if), it should be an enjoyable outing.
Itās a big year for Marvel on the big screen, as the studio seeks to continue restoring the Marvel Cinematic Universe after a tough period, with big team-up movie, a Fantastic Four film and a new Captain America instalment, set for release later this week. Thatās a heavy-hitting line-up, and when the dust settles on this year, weāll have a much clearer idea of how much mileage the MCU has left in it.
You can catch the trailer below ahead of the filmās UK release on the 2nd May.
