The distribution rights for Nicolas Cage Western The Old Way have been acquired by Saban Films – it will release later this year.
Saban Films has acquired the US and overseas rights to Nicolas Cage Western
The Old Way. The company is looking to release the film in cinemas and VOD during the late 2022.
The Old Way is directed by Brett Donowho (who helmed the Bruce Willis-led
Acts Of Violence), with a screenplay written by Carl W. Lucas. The story follows Colton Briggs, a former gunslinger who thinks he has left his past behind until a gang of outlaws murder his wife. Then, he must again take up arms, but he has to bring his young daughter with him. Together, they must exact revenge on McCallister, the man behind the murder of Briggs’ wife. Cage stars as Briggs, with Ryan Keira Armstrong, Nick Searcy, and Shiloh Fernandez in the supporting cast.
Deadline reports that this is the second Cage-starring film that Saban Films has acquired. The first is
Butcher’s Crossing, in which the
Pig actor plays an 1870s buffalo hunter. Saban Films will distribute
The Old Way in the US, UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand, several European countries, and South Africa.
The Old Way and
Butcher’s Crossing are just two of many upcoming Cage projects, with Dracula adaptation
Renfield, and action-comedy
The Retirement Plan both in pre-production.
The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent releases in cinemas on 22nd April.
