Only Murders In The Building is returning for a fourth series, and it’s confirmed that Meryl Streep will reprise her role.

One of the most delightful surprises of the last few years has been the runaway success of Hulu’s (Disney+ in the UK) Only Murders In The Building.
Created by Steve Martin and John Hoffman, the show follows Charles Haden-Savage (Martin), Oliver Putnam (Martin Short) and Mabel Mora (Selena Gomez), three neighbours in a New York City apartment called the Arconia, who form an unlikely bond as they come together to record a true crime podcast about the murders of their fellow residents, for which they are continually framed.
The warmth and wit of the writing combined with the chemistry between the three has ensured that the show is among the most streamed on the platform, and it has so far received 29 Emmy nominations and four wins. It’s also worth saying that Martin and Short’s stand up/variety special An Evening You Will Forget For The Rest Of Your Life, a wonderful throwback to the insult comedy made famous by the likes of Don Rickles in the 1950s and 1960s, is available to watch on Netflix.
After the ending of season 3, in which Jane Lynch’s character Sazz Pataki was murdered, the plot for season 4 is being kept under wraps for now, but we do know that it will begin with the central trio making a trip to Los Angeles before returning to the Arconia.
One of the highlights of season 3 was Meryl Streep as jobbing actress Loretta Durkin, and it has now been confirmed that she will return for season 4.
Also confirmed go be starring in the new series is Saturday Night Live alumnus Molly Shannon, who will play a “high-powered Los Angeles businesswoman”.
