Actor Patrick Wilson is on board to produce a stage musical version of 80s cult film The Lost Boys. More details here:

If all you’ve ever wanted was a musical about some very attractive vampires, you’re in luck. Joel Schumacher’s 1987 cult film The Lost Boys is heading to the stage, with added songs!

Aquaman star Patrick Wilson will be producing alongside James Carpinello and Marcus Chait, as reported by Deadline. Wilson took a stab at directing this year, helming the fourth Insidious sequel, Insidious: The Red Door. While also reprising his role as Josh Lambert in the long-running horror franchise, Wilson also teamed up with Ghost to deliver a cover of the song “Stay” which played over the end credits.

The original The Lost Boys, which also spawned two sequels, followed brothers who moved to a new town, just to find out it’s the prime spot for some vampires. The film starred Corey Haim, Corey Feldman, Kiefer Sutherland and Jason Patric among others and has become a cult classic since its release.

The creative team for the stage musical includes It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia writer and executive producer David Hornsby, pop-rock band The Rescues and Chris Hoch. There was no details on casting or when the musical would go into production.

While studios are dead set on hiding songs in the trailers for their movie musicals, more and more screen gems are heading for the stage. Stranger Things is currently enjoying a popular run on London’s West End and The Hunger Games is the next big franchise bound for the stage. Not to mention, both Groundhog Day and Back To The Future have enjoyed tremendous success on stage as musicals. Oh, and who could forget Paddington?

We’re not entirely sure what the songs for The Lost Boys musical will be like, but it’s safe to assume they’d lean into classic rock. We’ve got our fingers crossed for a proper power ballad sung by David.
