Pixar’s next original film is Elio, and here’s the full trailer to promote the upcoming film’s release next month.
Disney and Pixar’s next film will be Elio, a film about a kid who is fascinated by space, and who naturally finds himself beamed up to the great beyond where we’d imagine, great adventures ensue.
The synopsis reads as follows: Eleven-year-old dreamer Elio (voiced by Yonas Kibreab) is artistic, creative, and an avid indoorsman who finds it hard to fit in. Meanwhile, Mom Olga, who runs a top-secret military project, is working to decode a strange alien signal from outer space. But it’s Elio who makes contact, gets beamed into space and is subsequently mistaken for an intergalactic Ambassador for Earth in this original animated adventure.
America Ferrera is also in the voice cast. Adrian Molina, co-director of Coco, makes his solo directorial debut.
The film’s voice cast also includes Yonas Kibreab as Elio, Zoe Saldaña as Olga, Elio’s aunt, Jameela Jamil as Ambassador Questa, Remy Edgerly as Glordon, Brad Garrett as Lord Grigon, Jameela Jamil as Ambassador Questa and Shirley Henderson as OOOOO.
Elio launches for take-off on 20th June, the same date that our American friends also get to see the film.
Pixar’s Elio will have to contend with the challenge of 28 Years Later on that date, but we’re hoping that the film will continue the studio’s return to commercial success. As usual, the animation in Elio looks absolutely gorgeous and early word on this one has been pretty good.
Here’s the trailer for the film, ahead of its release next month.
