The planned survival thriller Origin Of The Species casts a few top names ahead of an autumn shoot in Australia.

Ron Howard’s last film was Thirteen Lives, the thriller based on the Thai cave rescue from 2018. Now, Howard’s Imagine Entertainment label has partnered up with AGC Studios to sell his next project at the upcoming Cannes market and given the cast he’s assembled, we don’t think he’ll have too much of a problem.

Origin Of The Species is set to star Ana de Armas, Jude Law, Alicia Vikander and Daniel Brühl. The film is set to be ‘based on two different accounts of the same true story, the film is being described as an “a darkly comic tale of murder and survival, set around a group of eclectic characters who abandon civilization for the Galapagos. They are all searching for the answer to that ever-pressing question that plagues us all: what is the meaning of life?”

Given that there might be a little worry about obtaining projects due to the ongoing writer’s strike, we can’t help but feel that any projects that are ready to go will be snatched up as studios look to bolster their slate. The scrip for Origin Of The Species has been penned by Tetris’ Noah Pink.

We’ll let you know who wins the bidding for this one when we hear it.
