Sam Mendes has confirmed the cast for his four Beatles films, which will be released in one go, it’s been announced.

At CinemaCon (which is currently taking place in Las Vegas), Beatlemania swept through Caesars Palace as Sam Mendes officially unveiled his cast for the planned four-film biopic about The Beatles. Along with revealing the cast for the films, a few other rumoured details were also confirmed.

First though, that cast. The following four names have long been whirling around, but now they’re official. The Beatles biopic will star Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Joseph Quinn as George Harrison and Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr. Not that you need us to tell you, but that’s one talented quartet of actors right there.

We’d imagine that Mendes will be assembling quite a supporting cast as well, but there’s no new names to report at this time.

Next up, further details emerged regarding the films’ release date, a detail which had seen some wild suggestions floated, including a 2027 release window and the possibility that all four films might release on the same day.

As it stands, the four films will all release in the same month, which is still a pretty bold move. April 2028 is the planned month, meaning that reports from earlier this year which suggested the films wouldn’t make a 2027 release window were indeed accurate.

The release strategy is being dubbed the ‘first binge-able theatrical experience’, bringing Netflix-style viewing habits to the cinema. Should this prove to be a success, we’ll likely see more studios follow suit. Is anybody up for The Beekeeper 2, 3, 4 and 5 releasing on the same day in cinemas? Because we’re most assuredly fine with that idea.

‘We’re not just making one film about the Beatles – we’re making four,’ Mendes said as the casting reveal closed out Sony’s CinemaCon presentation with a Merseybeat finale. ‘Perhaps this is a chance to understand them a little more deeply,’ he added.

That will certainly be the case given that each Beatle will get their own film. Fascinatingly, we’ll likely see key events in the band’s history through several narrative perspectives. More as we hear it…
