The cast list for Scream 6 is growing, as Samara Weaving confirms her involvement in the upcoming sequel.
Samara Weaving is carving out an impressive CV. Since co-starring in 2017ās
Mayhem, sheās gone on to headline hit horrors
The Babysitter and
Ready Or Not.
Now, sheās joining the ever growing cast of
Scream 6, along with
Spider-Man: No Way Home's Tony Revolori. According to a recent interview with
Collider, she was meant to be in
Scream 5, but their schedules didnāt align.
Scream 5 arrived earlier this year, just over a decade since Wes Craven’s swansong
Scream 4. Making over $140 million worldwide on a budget of just $24 million, a sequel was more or less inevitable. The same creative team are set to return, with co-directors Tyler Gillet and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin ā who, of course, also helmed
Ready Or Not ā working from a screenplay by writers James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick.
Plot details are being kept under wraps for the sixth instalment, which is due to go before the cameras this summer, though production companies Spyglass Media and Paramount Pictures have said that
Scream 6 “continues with the four survivors of the Ghostface killings as they leave Woodsboro behind and start a fresh chapter”.
So far, the cast also includes Hayden Panettiere, Courteney Cox, Melissa Barrera, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, Jenna Ortega, Dermot Mulroney, Devyn Nekoda, Josh Segarra and Henry Czerny. It was confirmed
last month that franchise veteran Neve Campbell would not be appearing in
Scream 6, which will make it the first film in the franchise to be made without her.
Scream 6 will be released on 31st March 2023.
