Ready Or Not star Samara Weaving will lead the cast of the planned franchise starter Azrael, penned by the writer of Godzilla Vs Kong 2.
Samara Weaving has been selected to lead the cast of Azrael, a planned action horror flick from writer Simon Barrett. The latter certainly has a background rooted in horror projects, from the 2016 Blair Witch remake to the V/H/S series.
According to early reports, the film’s producers are hoping they have a franchise on their hands and with Weaving’s star continuing to rise since she wowed audiences in 2019’s Ready Or Not, she may just be the right star to build a series of movies around.
Weaving is set to star in the upcoming Scream 6, further cementing her status as a horror queen, and although little is known about Azrael, Deadline does state: ‘story details are being kept under wraps on this one, but we know that Joker financier Jason Cloth and his C2 Motion Picture Group partner Dave Caplan recently won the rights in a competitive situation and will finance and produce.’
Production on the film is set to begin in October in Estonia.We’ll bring you more on this one as we hear it.
