Scream 6 has got the greenlight – and the latest sequel will be filming as quickly as this coming summer too.

Quite how much road there is left in the Scream franchise of movies is about to be tested, with the news that Scream 6 has been given the greenlight by Paramount Pictures and Spyglass.

The most recent Scream movie, directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, has proven to be a box office success. Given the difficult in current times in getting a film to hit, that’s been music to the ears of Paramount and Spyglass. As such, a fresh chapter has now been ordered.

James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick have been rehired to pen the new screenplay. Furthermore, Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett are back on directing duties as well.

Nobody’s hanging around either. The new Scream movie is set to go before the cameras this summer, which suggests it could be on cinema screens in 2023.

No release date or casting information has been revealed yet though. As we hear more, we’ll let you know…
