Lily Rose-Depp, Paddy Considine and some gorgeous production design feature in the trailer for Wolf. If you check out one trailer today, the Wolf should be it. George MacKay is set to star opposite Lily Rose-Depp in this strange drama about a boy suffering from species dysphoria, who believes he is a wolf trapped within the body of a human body. As explained by director and writer Nathalie Biancheri, director of Nocturnal, “it is a story about a boy, Jacob who believes that he’s a wolf and it’s set in a clinic which cures people who have this illness, which is actually a real illness called species dysphoria. They believe that they’re an animal trapped in a human body. Jacob is sent to “the zoo,” a clinic specialising in the condition, run by ‘the zookeeper’ (played by Paddy Considine), a therapist who uses extreme “curative” therapies. Jacob’s “will is tested as his true nature battles to surface amid the chaos while maintaining his mythological status among the animals that surround him.” MacKay’s physical performance looks incredible in the trailer as he lithely slinks around, moving uncannily like a wolf. Considine brings value to every role he takes and what’s more, the film’s production design looks uniquely gorgeous. We’re certainly excited for this one. It’s a patchwork production of sorts, with lots of different production companies financing it, whilst Universal is handling distribution. The film has a UK release date of March 18th, having debuted in the US last year.
