Rachel McAdams is set to reunite with Sam Raimi on his return to the horror genre for the upcoming film Send Help. More here.

At the tail-end of last week, news emerged that stated Sam Raimi had signed a deal to once again work with Marvel Studios, taking on the director’s chair for Doctor Strange 3. As you’ll know, the Evil Dead director made the most recent entry in the series, 2022’s Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness and the film – while very much suffering from typical MCU issues – went on to earn almost a billion dollars at the global box office in an era when that financial benchmark is far from guaranteed.

Rachel McAdams co-starred – and will presumably pop up in the threequel, we’d imagine. However, it looks like Raimi has more plans for the actor, given that The Insneider is reporting that Raimi has cast McAdams as his lead in Send Help, a horror feature he’s directing before he once again throws himself into the labyrinthine workings of a giant superhero movie.

The film is reportedly set to shoot in January and is a dark horror comedy. Described as ‘Misery meets Cast Away’ , the film follows Linda (McAdams) and her irritating boss, Bradley. The pair are on a business flight which crashes, leaving them stranded on an island – the only two who survived. While Linda has serious survival skills, Bradley… does not.

The film was originally established at Sony, but it’s 20th Century Studios that is ultimately backing it. We haven’t really seen McAdams do too much in the horror genre, although she did follow up the strong one-two punch of 2004’s Mean Girls and 2005’s The Notebook by collaborating with horror master Wes Craven on Red Eye, an (underrated in our opinion) thriller co-starring Cillian Murphy.

Send Help sounds promising. anyway. And given that Marvel will want Sam Raimi on Doctor Strange duties as soon as possible, we’re hoping this one finds its way into the world with great haste.

The casting of the Bradley character remains as the biggest question mark yet to be answered (pro tip: don’t ask Jared). When we hear who will be taking the role, we’ll let you know.
