Steven Spielberg pens a heartfelt thank you letter to the cast, crew and New York.
Director, Steven Spielberg has jumped on Twitter, (via 20th Century Fox’s account) to announce that production on the upcoming West Side Story has wrapped.
The legendary helmer was full of gratitude to those who collaborated with him on the film, and to the people and city of New York for its ‘beauty and energy.’ Don’t take our word for it, though. Here’s what he wrote…
It’s a wrap on West Side Story. To mark the end of production, Steven wanted to share a few thoughts and images with you.

It’s a classy act from a classy guy, (although we’re not sure Birmingham ever got one of these following Ready Player One,) and from Spielberg’s words, it looks like we’ll be seeing New York at its most filmic when the movie releases in December 2020.
Spielberg himself uses the letter to praise the efforts of his ‘inexhaustible’ cast and crew and we’ll all be able to enjoy the fruits of their labour late next year. More as we have it.
