After a long delay, Netflix’s Stranger Things is back in production for its fifth and final season. More details here.

All good things must come to an end and so does Stranger Things, one of the flagship shows on Netflix that hasn’t been cancelled after one season.

Season four was released in 2022 and we’ve known for a while that season five would conclude the beloved show but the final season has faced many obstacles, not in the least the writers and actors’ strikes.

Netflix has confirmed today (8th January) that Stranger Things is back in production and shared a lovely snap of the whole cast together. There’s no official word on when season five would debut on Netflix but we can safely assume it won’t be this year. Bummer.

The final season will bring to a close the narrative that started with Noah Schnapp’s Will Buyers going missing all the way in season one. Since then, there have been a lot of Mindflayers and Demogorgons, a West End show, the surprise return of Kate Bush to the charts and a lot of mind control.

Milly Bobby Brown, Schnapp, David Harbour, Winona Ryder, Finn Wolfhard, Caleb McLaughlin, Sadie Sink, Gaten Matarazzo and Joe Keery will all reprise their roles for the final season and the Duffer Brothers, the minds behind the whole thing, have teased the return of another character. Who could it be? We’re hoping it’s Eddie Munson, played by Joseph Quinn, but we’ll just have to wait and see.

The final season will wrap things up with 8 episodes. We’re still holding out for hope that we’ll get some closure for Barb who was, unceremoniously, killed off in season one. Justice for Barb!

We’ll keep you updated on when we can expect Stranger Things season five to hit Netflix.
