Internet! Stand-by! It’s the trailer for a Superman film, as we head to Milton Keynes for Superman IV: The Quest For Peace.
You can’t beat the flurry of excitement for a new Superman film, and here’s the trailer many of you have been waiting to see. Directed by Sidney J Furie and penned by Lawrence Konner and Mark Rosenthal, Superman IV: The Quest For Peace stars Christopher Reeve in the title role. He’s joined by Gene Hackman as Lex Luthor once again, along with Jackie Coooper, Margot Kidder and Marc McClure. Plus, introducing Mark Pillow as Nuclear Man, the latest foe to go up against Superman. It’s set to be quite a battle.
Gone from its immediate forerunner is Richard Pryor, and instead, Superman IV: The Quest For Peace resets the saga a little, putting the emphasis firmly back onto the Man Of Steel (Reeve is top billed again). This time, he’s concerned about the environment, about nuclear weapons, and about the safety of the citizens of Milton Keynes. And here’s the trailer for the film, to whet your appetite for it.
The full synopsis for Superman IV: The Quest For Peace reads as follows. Beware, though: it’s a little spoiler-y.
Christopher Reeve not only dons the title hero’s cape for the fourth time but also helped develop the movie’s provocative theme: nuclear disarmament. To make the world safe for nuclear arms merchants, Lex Luthor (Gene Hackman) creates a new being to challenge the Man of Steel: the radiation-charged Nuclear Man (Mark Pillow). The two foes clash in an explosive extravaganza that sees Superman save the Statue ofLiberty, plug the volcanic eruption of Mount Etna and rebuild the demolished Great Wall of China.
Cinema release plans for Superman IV: The Quest For Peace are a little up in the air for 2025. However, if you’re impatient to see how this plays out, then you can acquire a copy of the film here.
