Tom Holland is still set to star in the Uncharted movie, but lord knows who’s going to direct it now.
Well, crikey. Sony has ambitious plans to bring its Uncharted series of hit PlayStation games to the big screen, even though it’s taken a fair amount of time just to get this far.
Tom Holland has signed on to star in the movie, that’s the maiden project for Sony’s new Sony PlayStation Productions arm. But already to this point, directors such as David O Russell, Neil Burger, Seth Gordon, Shawn Levy and Joe Carnahan have come and gone from the project, without a frame of footage being shot.
And now you can add another name to that list. At the start of the year, 10 Cloverfield Lane director Dan Trachtenberg signed on the dotted line to direct the movie. Now? He’s departed as well, for reasons unknown.
The plan remains for Sony to get the film shooting early next year, and a Deadline report suggests that work is underway to secure another director, and to have them in place for the end of the summer. When we learn who that new helmer is, we’ll let you know…
