Remember 1996’s Eraser, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger? Well, over 25 years later, they’ve decided to make another one.
The first trailer for Eraser: Reborn has landed, based on the Arnold Schwarzenegger action film from 1996. The film takes the same concept as the Schwarzenegger film, being ‘based on U.S. Marshal Mason Pollard who is specialised in engineering the fake deaths of witnesses that leaves no trace of their existence.’
Whilst the ‘Reborn’ aspect of the title suggests some kind of connective tissue with the original, that doesn’t seem to be the case and Schwarzenegger himself is not involved with the project.
Remaking a film based around the star wattage of a single movie star is always a tricky proposition, as removing that actor can often leave a hole too big to fill. From the looks of its trailer, Eraser: Reborn seems to be attempting to fill that void with plenty of action, especially as its cast led by Dominic Sherwood is lacking in star power.
The film isn’t due to get a cinematic release in the US, with a home formats and HBO Max release planned for June. When we find out the plans for a UK release, we’ll let you know. In the meantime, you can catch the trailer below.
