The upcoming musical The End is set to shoot sometime in 2022, and comes courtesy of Neon: more on it here.

Justin Oppenheimer, who has previously been nominated for Oscars for his documentaries The Look Of Silence and The Act Of Killing, will direct The End, a musical that will focus on the last remaining family on Earth.

Tilda Swinton, George MacKay and Stephen Graham are all set to star. Little else is known about the project at the moment, apart from that it has an expected shoot date of sometime in 2022.

The concept is certainly intriguing enough, contrasting the performative aspects of a musical with the melancholic atmosphere that one might expect if humanity no longer had a place on Earth. Neon has a good track record when it comes to backing smart ideas, having distributed 2019’s superb Parasite, as well as the recently released Palme d’Or winner Titane.

With three superb actors on board, in the form of Swinton, MacKay and Graham, The End could shape up to be something quite special indeed. Whilst details are pretty scarce at the moment, as we hear more, we’ll let you know.
