From the horror of Safe to casting six different people as Bob Dylan in I’m Not There, you can always count on Todd Haynes to take risks in his filmmaking.
His next film, May, December, looks to continue this trend, with the plot following the consequences of an affair between an older women and a younger man.
The film reunites Haynes with Julianne Moore, with whom he has made three films so far. Also confirmed are Natalie Portman and Charles Melton, with Piper Curda, Elizabeth Yu, and Gabriel Chung playing the children of the characters, who suffer most of the emotional fallout.
Haynes directs from a screenplay by Samy Burch, who conceived the story with Alex Mechanik. Portman also acts as one of the producers.
There is no indication of a release date as of yet, but we’ll keep you updated as we hear more.
