Asteroid City is upcoming from Wes Anderson, and the first trailer for the new film is here.
Wes Anderson’s next film is inbound, and now we have a trailer to feat our eyes on. Following a production that took place in Spain at the tail-end of 2021, Asteroid City will release in June of 2023, courtesy of Focus Features in the US (on the 16th) and Universal in the UK on June 23rd.
The film looks like being the director’s take on a story we’ve seen plenty of times before, that being the classic Earthbound asteroid tale. According to the synopsis, ‘the itinerary of a Junior Stargazer/Space Cadet convention (organised to bring together students and parents from across the country for fellowship and scholarly competition) is spectacularly disrupted by world-changing events’ in an fictional American desert town in the 1950s.
As is standard for Anderson, he seems to have employed half of Hollywood for the film, including the talents of Jason Schwartzman, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Hanks, Jeffrey Wright, Tilda Swinton, Bryan Cranston, Ed Norton, Adrien Brody, Liev Schreiber, Hope Davis, Stephen Park, Rupert Friend, Maya Hawke, Steve Carell, Matt Dillon, Hong Chau, Willem Dafoe, Margot Robbie, Tony Revolori, Jake Ryan, Grace Edwards, Aristou Meehan, Sophia Lillis, Ethan Lee, Jeff Goldblum and Rita Wilson.
