A period drama set in 1920s Chicago, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom arrives on Netflix this December – and here’s the trailer for the movie.

Netflix has launched the trailer for its upcoming movie Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, featuring the final performance from the already greatly-missed Chadwick Boseman.

Set in Chicago in 1924 the film centres around a recording session where groundbreaking soul singer Ma Rainey, played by Viola Davis, clashes with her white management team and Boseman’s precociously-talented up and coming trumpeter.

The film is set to be released on December 18th. It is adapted from Pulitzer Prize-winning writer August Wilson’s play, which itself has been nominated for several Tony awards.

Directed by George C. Wolfe, the film will launch on Netflix, as did Boseman’s prior performance in Spike Lee’s Da 5 Bloods.

You can watch the trailer for the film below, ahead of its December release.
