Grease: Rise Of The Pink Ladies is a prequel to the iconic musical, and the first trailer for it has landed.
Grease is undoubtedly a classic musical, cementing hits like
Grease Is The Word and
Summer Lovin, despite some, er, questionable characterisation. It also helped to launch John Travolta and the late Olivia Newton-John to superstardom. The sequel has its share of supporters. It’s arguably the better film too,
as we’ve discussed before.
Grease: The Rise Of The Pink Ladies is a prequel series which will examine the origins of the Pink Ladies gang at Rydell High School, as well as their connection to self proclaimed bad boys the T-Birds.
The show is written by Atypical's Annabel Oakes, who also serves as the showrunner and director. It stars Marisa Davila as Jane, Cheyenne Isabel Wells as Olivia, Ari Notartomaso as Cynthia, Tricia Fukuhara as Nancy, Shanel Bailey as Hazel, Madison Thompson as Susan, Johnathan Nieves as Richie, Jason Schmidt as Buddy, Maxwell Whittington-Cooper as Wally and Jackie Hoffman as Asst. Principal McGee.
Grammy nominee Justin Tranter is responsible for the music, with choreography by Jamal Sims
Grease: The Rise Of The Pink Ladies will be released on the 7th April on Paramount+. And you can watch the trailer below…
