Robert Rodriguez’s next film is sci-fi heist thriller Hypnotic, with Ben Affleck starring. Trailer here.
The filmography of Robert Rodriguez encompasses everything from the microbudget El Mariachi to the classic Desperado and the much loved Spy Kids franchise, which in turn led to Danny Trejo’s iconic leading turn as Machete. He hasn’t directed a film since 2020’s We Can Be Heroes, a legacy sequel to Sharkboy And Lavagirl.
His next film is Hypnotic, a science fiction heist thriller which follows “a detective who finds himself spiraling down a rabbit hole while investigating a series of reality-bending crimes mysteriously connected to his missing daughter. Aided by a gifted psychic (Alice Braga), he is pursued by a lethal specter (William Fichtner) who he believes holds the key to finding his daughter”.
Ben Affleck stars as the detective, alongside Alice Braga as the psychic and William Fichtner as the Specter. Other cast members include JD Pardo, Hala Finley, Dayo Okeniyi, Jeff Fahey and Jackie Earle Haley.
Hypnotic is released in the US on the 12th May, with a UK release yet to be announced.
