Fans of the long-running horror series V/H/S are getting another film to go with the soon-to release V/H/S/99.

The found footage genre continues to thrive in the horror field, notably with the V/H/S/ series of films. A fifth film in the franchise, V/H/S/99, is set to release in just over a week but plans are already afoot to bring more tales to the screen.

The newly-announced V/H/S/85 will release on the horror platform Shudder, just as V/H/S/99 is set to do on October 2oth of this year. However, the next film in the series has been revealed to be another anthology-style film. The platform’s general manager has stated that the film will be a platform “for both established and emerging horror filmmakers to terrify audiences with innovative takes on the found footage genre.”

As for those directors, well, it’s quite the list. V/H/S/85 will feature the talents of Scott Derrickson (The Black Phone), Natasha Kermani (Lucky), Mike P. Nelson (Wrong Turn), and Gigi Saul Guerrero (The Purge series).

As for when the film will release? Sometime in 2023 is what we’re hearing so you can probably expect to see it next October, but we’ll let you know for sure when those details are confirmed. As for other horror films in the found footage mould, this week’s podcast covers another classic entry into the genre, that being 2007’s Paranormal Activity. You can find that right here.
