The terrific channel Great Big Story has returned, and its newest video investigates the making of Star Wars creatures. We may have had a tiny bit to do with this particular video too.

In the video, Dutch animatronics artist Gustav Hoegen tells the story of how he was inspired to work in practical effects. He details how he was inspired by seeing Return Of The Jedi in cinemas, and has since worked in animatronics for Pinewood Studios.

His own Star Wars creations include Admiral Ackbar, Maz Kanata, Argus ‘Six Eyes’ Panox and Babu Frik. His other credits include Prometheus, Clash Of The Titans, and The Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy. 

This interview with Hoegen gives an insight into his work, the characters he’s created, and how animatronics work.
