This new era of TV with bigger budgets, ambitious scope and bigger stars tackling the small screen has resulted in us being spoiled rotten with great telly. In fact, it’s getting harder and harder to keep up with the output ā though Appleās recent announcement that itās cutting its expenditure on TV and film could be a sign that the era may have already passed its peak.
Here’s another series to add to your ever-growing list of potentially good TV shows. AppleTV+’s Bad Monkey, starring Vince Vaughn, promises to tickle our funny bones and satisfy our craving for murder mysteries.

AppleTV+’s previous murder mystery series, Presumed Innocent, starring Jake Gyllenhaal, has just wrapped up this week, leaving a homicide-shaped hole in our lives. We’ll have to wait for a couple of weeks for Bad Monkey, but it looks as though it could satisfy our appetites for a good, comic crime thriller.
Hereās the official synopsis:
Based on Carl Hiaasen’s New York Times bestselling novel and enduring cult favorite, “Bad Monkey” tells the story of Andrew Yancy (Vaughn), who has been bounced from the Miami Police Department and is now a health inspector in the Keys. But after stumbling upon a case that begins with a human arm fished up by tourists, he realizes that if he can prove murder, he’ll be back in. He just needs to get past a trove of Floridian oddballs and one bad monkey.
The series stars Vince Vaughn as Yancy and heās joined by Michelle Monaghan, Rob Delaney, Zach Braff, John Ortiz and many more in the star-studded series.
Bad Monkey consists of 10 episodes, with the first two premiering on 14th August and the other eight following each week.
