In America at least, it looks like Joker will be on home formats just before Christmas, with a 17th December release earmarked.
Looking to ride the wave of its enormous box office success, it looks as if Warner Bros – in the US at least – is wasting little time getting Joker out onto DVD, Blu-ray, Ultra HD 4K Blu-ray and digital download.
The film, that landed in cinemas at the start of October, currently has over $600m in worldwide takings to its name, with some road ahead of it yet. But also, Warner Bros looks keen to cash in on its success, with it now being suggested that in the US at least, a home formats release date will land the week before Christmas.
The excellent The Digital Bits is suggesting that the studio is eyeing 17th December as a release date for the film. It’s updated its original rumour post too, to confirm that’s the date that its industry sources are now reporting will see the film on disc in the States. I’ve been following that site for many years, and its sources are strong. Whether the UK will follow suit with a December release is unclear, but we’ll keep you posted as we hear more. Our guess is it might not land until January over here: in fact, we’re hearing from an industry source that the British release is now ‘early 2020’.
