Worzel Gummidge Down Under is coming to Blu-ray next month – with a plethora of special features on the disc. Details within.
While Jon Pertwee will always be known as the Third Doctor in Doctor Who, to a generation of children and adults alike he brought Barbara Euphan Todd’s country bumpkin scarecrow Worzel Gummidge to life in the much-loved 1970s and 80s series of the same name.
After re-releasing the original series on DVD and Blu-ray last year, Fabulous Films are now releasing sequel series Worzel Gummidge Down Under, as well as a boxset of the entire series, on Blu-ray next month.
Written by Keith Waterhouse and Willis Hall, the original series ran for four series on ITV from 1979 to 1981, and saw Worzel cause mischief and mayhem in and around Scatterbrook Farm, forever pining over the cruel and dismissive Aunt Sally, played by Una Stubbs, while trying to avoid the ire of Geoffrey Bayldon’s Crowman.
Worzel Gummidge Down Under saw Worzel follow Aunt Sally to New Zealand and ran for a further two series from 1987 to 1989.
