Paramount+ and Showtime have officially renewed Yellowjackets for season 4 after season 3 ended on a cliffhanger. More on it below.
Yellowjackets season 3 didn’t quite reach the series’ high points, but we’d be lying if we said we aren’t interested in seeing what happens after the major cliffhanger the season ended on.
Thankfully, Yellowjackets has been officially renewed for season 4, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. The news doesn’t come as a major surprise since creators Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson have previously said they’d like to conclude the series with five seasons in total.
Major spoilers for Yellowjackets to follow.
Season 4 does have an intriguing premise after the events of the season 3 finale. In the 90s, Natalie managed to get the satellite phone working and reached an unknown person, perhaps finally being able to call help. In the present, Taissa ate Van’s heart (yes, really) and Shauna drove her family away. In other words, everyone is dealing with things very well.
We argued that the season wasn’t as effective as the two previous seasons, resulting in a thematically dark, but undeniably dull season. Sure, there were some excellent episodes and surprises, such as Hilary Swank’s Melissa and Shauna engaging in a proper fist fight, but overall, the narrative is starting to feel a little thin and unappealing.
Despite mixed reviews, the season 3 finale was Paramount’s most watched season finale. Roughly 3 million pairs of eyeballs tuned in to watch Shauna, Taissa and Misty’s lives slowly but surely descend into further chaos.
There’s no info on when Yellowjackets season 4 might go into production or when we can expect it to hit our screens. We’ll be sure to let you know when that happens, though.
