The reviews were somewhat mixed, but Yooka-Laylee provided a welcome shot of nostalgia when it emerged in 2017. Basically, if you were around for the halcyon days of Banjo-Kazooie or Crash Bandicoot, then Yooka-Layleeās 3D platforming action would probably left you all misty-eyed and happy.
If thatās the case, then thereās good news: a spin-off is just around the corner. Taking to Twitter, developer Playtonic has announced that its follow-up, Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair, is coming out in October. When in October? That bitās still up in the air, but nevertheless: thereāll be a new Yooka-Laylee available on the Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One and PC within a matter of weeks.

Unlike the original game, Impossible Lairās action will largely be 2.5D, so expect an experience closer to the likes of Donkey Kong Country ā a game several members of the Yooka-Laylee team also worked on ā than Banjo-Kazooie. In case you havenāt seen it already, you can see what Impossible Lair looks like in motion below. It looks like just the thing to brighten up a gloomy autumn evening.
