Oscar-winning director Peter Farrelly will be returning to the buddy comedy genre for his first film since Green Book.
Peter Farrelly is returning to the genre which snagged him a Best Picture Oscar for 2018’s Green Book with his next film, Beer Run. Zac Efron and Russell Crowe have signed up to star, and the duo have already arrived in Thailand, where the film is set to shoot.
Originally, Green Book star, Viggo Mortensen was set to headline this one, alongside Dylan O’Brien, but Efron and Crowe are now the leads. The film tells the story of ‘John “Chickie” Donahue as he leaves New York in 1967 to track down and share a beer with his childhood buddies who are in the army fighting in the Vietnam War.’
Skydance Media is producing for Apple TV+. Thailand will stand in for Vietnam in the film. We’ll let you know when we hear more.
