Here’s a test for you: identify the popular movie, purely off the back of how its 1980s computer game version looked.
Back in the 1980s, computer game developers were pretty open about getting the rights to all sorts of movies – back when it was cheap to do so – and publishing resultant games. As such, some titles that you may not ordinarily think ripe for computer game versions made it to the likes of the ZX Spectrum. Likewise, those that did weren’t always – due to the limitations of computer graphics at the time – instantly recognisable.
We’re very much children of the ZX Spectrum and Commodore 64 era here. Thus, here’s a quiz as a tribute. It’s very simple: how many movies here can you guess from the visuals of their tie-in videogame? It all plays out in a YouTube video below, so you don’t have to wait long for the answers. Just make sure you’re honest when totting up your score…!
